Painting Peace

Simply marvelous, that was the term used by many to describe the Conflict Resolution Academy’s art gallery that was held on the 22nd of February 2014 in LOST’s Bednayel center. The art gallery was 60 student’s means of delivering the peace message through producing paintings of their new found beliefs.

The Conflict Resolution Academy that started on the 1st of December 2013 has produced continuous 3 month training of 100 youth participants on civil participation, citizenship, and other peace building ideas. Students of the Bednayel Conflict Resolution Academy from Nabeel Adeeb Slayman School and Temnin-Tehta Official School partnered with Students from Shmustar Official School and Emam Al Jawad High School in creating this gallery. The gallery was an artistic wakeup call to society, where students had the freedom and encouragement to pursue their piece building message and refuse intolerance and gender based violence. ”youth need support and encouragement”, Said painter Yaser Alderane. He also added that the Academy took a very brave decision in youth support. His words reflected his great believe as many others in the project.

LOST’s Conflict Resolution Academy funded by the Canada Fund is hammering hard on the foundations of hatred. A great shout out goes to the civil society foundations that helped in creating this gallery such as Shmustar’s Continual Giving and Ksarnaba Sons. Peace is not just song lyrics, it’s the social sunshine.
